我們前面提到過，要多留意歷史知識，尤其是美國歷史的一些重要時期，如獨立戰(zhàn)爭時期，南北戰(zhàn)爭時期，以及20世紀60年代等等。

在英語中，為使表達簡潔，常用代詞指代句中出現(xiàn)過的名詞。這個代詞要和指代對象在人稱和數(shù)方面保持一致。如出現(xiàn)Mary，則代詞只能是she（主格）或her（賓格）。如指代對象是students，則代詞只能是they（主格）或them（賓格）。當(dāng)然，這只是代詞指代的基本常識。
